Can we help everyone who seeks help?

When we have to prioritise, we consider the nature and seriousness of the problem in each individual case. We also consider the resources available in the networks surrounding those who seek help. And we consider the likelihood of the problem worsening if help is delayed.

If the problem is acute – such as suicidal thoughts, a life-threatening eating disorder or an acute psychosis – we provide an appointment the same day. Weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. the local outpatient clinics are open for emergency appointments. Evenings, nights and weekends, our emergency inpatient clinic at Sachsgatan 10 at Södersjukhuset (Stockholm South General Hospital) takes over.

Studies show that about 15–20% of all children need psychosocial support during childhood. At BUP, we meet 5% of all children in the county and it's our job to ensure that the children and adolescents we see are the ones in greatest need of our expertise and efforts.
